Terms of Service

The agreement that covers using Earnlock — subscriptions, acceptable use, and the usual legal bits. We've tried to keep it plain-English, but it's still a contract, so give it a read.

01

Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Earnlock(“we”, “us”, “our”) governing your access to and use of the Earnlock iPhone application and this website (together, the “Service”). By downloading, installing, or using Earnlock, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

02

Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Earnlock, and you must have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement in the jurisdiction where you live. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.

03

Your account

Earnlock works without a dedicated account — your data lives on your iPhone. Some features rely on your Apple ID for subscription management. You are responsible for the security of your iPhone and your Apple ID, including any activity that happens through them.

04

Subscriptions and billing

Full access to Earnlock requires an auto-renewing subscription (currently a weekly or yearly plan), sold through Apple's in-app purchase system at the prices shown in the App Store at the time of purchase. The yearly plan may include a free trial.

  • Billing — Apple charges your Apple ID at the start of each subscription period. Your subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Managing your subscription — view, change, or cancel anytime from Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
  • Refunds— refunds are processed by Apple under Apple's standard refund policy.
  • Price changes— if we change a subscription price, Apple will notify you and seek your consent where required by Apple's rules.
05

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Earnlock for any unlawful purpose or to harass, threaten, or harm anyone.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or interfere with the app or its security and verification features, except where applicable law expressly permits.
  • Misrepresent real-world activity to earn unlock rewards fraudulently, or otherwise abuse the Service in a way that disrupts it.
  • Upload content (for example, journal entries) that infringes someone else's rights, violates law, or contains malware.
  • Misrepresent your identity or attempt to evade subscription limits.

We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these rules.

06

Your content

Journal entries, activity history, and any other content you create in Earnlock remain yours. Because your content lives on your device, we don't claim a license to it. If a future feature lets you share content with us (for example, opting in to a bug report with a screenshot), you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that submitted content solely to provide and improve the Service.

07

How verification works

Earnlock verifies habits — such as camera-based workouts, focus sessions, steps, and journal entries — to award unlock time. Verification runs on your device and is not perfect; detection may occasionally be inaccurate. The Service is a self-improvement tool provided on an “as is” basis. It is not a medical, health, or fitness service and is not a substitute for professional judgment.

08

Intellectual property

The Earnlock app, brand, logos, the “Max” mascot, and visual design are owned by us and protected by applicable law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store Terms.

09

Health and safety

Earnlock includes physical activities such as workouts and stretching. Consult a healthcare professional before beginning any exercise program. You participate at your own risk. Stop any activity that causes pain or discomfort. We are not responsible for any injury resulting from your use of the Service.

10

Third-party services

Earnlock depends on services provided by Apple (including Screen Time / Family Controls, HealthKit, and the App Store) and a subscription-management provider. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for the availability or behavior of third-party services.

11

Termination

You may stop using Earnlock at any time by deleting the app from your iPhone. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or if we're required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limits of liability, and dispute resolution — will survive.

12

Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that habit verification will be accurate.

13

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Earnlock and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $50.

14

Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Earnlock and its team from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

15

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Earnlock is operated, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless local consumer-protection law gives you a non-waivable right to a different forum.

16

Apple-specific terms

These Terms are between you and Earnlock, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content. To the extent these Terms conflict with Apple's App Store Terms of Service, Apple's terms prevail with respect to App Store distribution of the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

17

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post the updated version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
